Switching Users in macOS Sonoma

After macOS released the Sonoma update, there have been noticeable changes when it comes to switching users. If an iMac's screen is locked, and another user is still logged in, it will only list the users who have previously logged into the computer as log in options. In order to log into an iMac that is locked with another user's MyID, please follow the steps below.

  1. Hover over the currently logged in user, and a list of other users should expand. Then select the icon of a different user. (Any user is fine, we're not actually going to login as them)

  2. Highlight the name in the username field and delete it.

  3. Now that the username field is clear, you can enter your credentials to log in with your MyID.
