JMP Student Edition Resources and Information
Overview
JMP has discontinued the traditional JMP Pro product in favor of the individually-licensed JMP Student Edition of the software. While this product is functionally comparable to the JMP Pro version, it does require that students individually register with the JMP company, ‘purchase’ (for free) a license, and agree to the terms of the agreement. Additionally, the software requires activation one or more times for each computer that an individual uses the product on. Computers having the product installed will show it as JMP Pro 18.
Support
Franklin OIT is unable to provide software or licensing activation support for the JMP application. Outside of ensuring that the software is installed on the Caldwell Hall Statistics computer lab computers, questions must be redirected to JMP. Submit a Support Request
Installation
Franklin OIT has installed JMP Student Edition software on all Caldwell Hall Statistics classroom computers.
Students and faculty are responsible for:
Agreeing to the JMP licensing terms personally.
Acquiring and maintaining their own free licenses for JMP Student Edition
Signing in and activating the software before it can be used on the workstation
Submitting any support requests for the software, licensing, account management, and activations to JMP directly: Submit a Support Request
Licensing and Activation - Student and Faculty Access
In order to use the software, students and faculty must create an account on JMP's website and sign up for access to the free Student version. Students and faculty will be required to authenticate using their MyID via UGA’s ArchPass SSO as part of this process.
JMP will ask for activation when it is opened.
Students will enter their UGA email address when prompted, followed by a 6-digit confirmation code that JMP sends directly to their UGA email as part of the activation process.
Franklin OIT cannot provide a confirmation code to activate JMP software.
JMP will only launch after signing in and activation have been successfully completed.
JMP’s documentation recommends that students should use the same classroom computer every day, if possible, to prevent any potential activation issues with the license JMP provides for them.
In some cases, JMP might ask the user to sign in and activate the product using a 6-digit code sent to their UGA email more than once. Please be prepared to sign in and activate the software whenever you need to use JMP.
