Creating Photo Gallery Carousels
Photo gallery carousels are used to display photos for events, club members, award ceremonies. etc. The gallery will be its own page and you can link to the gallery from other pages within the website.
Step 1: Create a new Photo Gallery Carousel
First click on 'Content.'
Next, click on the ‘Add Content' button
Now Click on the ‘Carousel’ Button
You should get this page:
Step 2: Fill in Optional Fields
The minimum this page needs to have is a title, but you can add a description of the gallery in the body, if you like. Of course, you’ll want to add photos as well.
Step 3: Add Images to Your Carousel
In the Carousel Images section, click on the ‘Add Media’ button. This is where you will add your photographs.
Click on Browse to add photographs from your computer.
Note: You can also add photos from other galleries by selecting the check box by the photo you would like to add (see below).
The files from your computer will pop up on your screen. Click on the file, select it and then click ‘Upload’.
To upload multiple photographs at once, select the ones you would like to add from your computer:
Now you will add the Alternative Text (required) and a caption, if you like. If you do not add a caption when you upload the image, you can edit/add captions later but it is another step so we recommend adding captions during upload. Read the documentation for adding or editing a caption later.
Click on ‘Save’
You will now see this page with the photos you just added. They will have the boxes next to them checked.
At this time, you can add additional photos in the gallery by checking the box beside them.
Click on the ‘Insert Selected’ button to add the selected photos.
The new photos you added are now in the new Photo Gallery you created. Your page should look like this:
Make sure to have the box "Use Pager" checked! Otherwise the photos will not go side by side.
Step 4: Save your new Photo Gallery
Click on ‘Save’
Step 5: View your Photo Gallery
You have now created your Photo Gallery and it should look like this:
Viewing All Galleries
This feature automatically creates a list of photo galleries in your site, if you have more than one. You can go to YOUR URL/galleries to see the list of photo galleries. An example of a site with multiple galleries is here: https://diversitythroughdance.franklinresearch.uga.edu/galleries. It looks like this:
