Overview

This article outlines how to install JMP Pro on a personal computer, as well as how to update the license using the files provided by EITS. If you need to install it on a Franklin College-owned computer please use the Ivanti software portal (https://kb.franklin.uga.edu/x/hwV0), or submit a help desk ticket request to Franklin OIT (helpdesk.franklin.uga.edu).

Procedure

Windows

1. Download the installer (under the heading "How do I access JMP?") from the EITS website here: https://eits.uga.edu/hardware_and_software/software/jmp/ . A pop-up will appear asking you to log in; enter a valid UGA MyID and password to start the download.

2. Right-click the downloaded zip file for the JMP installer (usually saved in your Downloads folder by default) and select "Extract All..." from the drop down menu.

3. Specify a folder to extract the installation files and click Extract.

4. Go into the folder you extracted for the JMP installation. Navigate to JMP-Pro-17.2-Win\sas_depot_win_JMP Pro 17.2\JMP\JMP_Pro\17_2\Windows and double click the jmppro_1720_win.exe file.

If you are not logged in as an Administrator, Right-Click and choose "Run as Administrator" to install JMP 17! (You will need to know the login credentials of an administrator account on this machine).

5. An install window will open and you will be prompted to click Next a few times until you can click Install to proceed with the installation. (You may be prompted to enter an Administrator password to proceed).  Choose whether to create a desktop icon or not and then click Finish.

6. All done! Enjoy JMP Pro!

If you launch JMP and receive an error message about the license, continue on to the next section.

Update License File (Windows)

If you install JMP and are unable to use the software because "This copy of JMP is either unlicensed, or the license has expired", you'll need to update the license to the latest version.

*To update a license file within Windows, JMP will need to be opened as an Administrator.  To do this, right click on the JMP icon in your Start menu and select "Run as administrator"

1. To obtain a new license file, download it from the EITS website here: https://eits.uga.edu/hardware_and_software/software/jmp/ under the heading "How do I license JMP?". Enter your MyID information when prompted for a username and password. You will need to save the file by right-clicking and then choosing "Save link as..." to save the .zip file to your computer.

2. Go to where the zip file has saved (usually the Downloads folder).  Right click the .zip file and select "Extract All..."

3. Click Extract

4. A folder with the same name as the zip file should appear in the same folder as the zip file.  Double click it to reveal a .txt file.

5. Launch JMP as an administrator. In the "Provide Your JMP License" window, click "Open License"

6. Navigate to the .txt file in the folder created in step 4 (The file should begin with JMP172).  Click "Open".

7. A window will pop up, asking if you'd like to personalize your license. You can skip this by clicking "OK"

8. File Explorer will open again, asking where you'd like to save your permanent license file. Save it somewhere you're unlikely to disturb it, if it gets deleted JMP will no longer function

9. Enjoy using JMP!
