This article describes how to clear cache data for some of the most commonly used browsers:
Chrome
Firefox
Edge
Safari
Chrome
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More .
- Click More tools Clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
- Deselect every type of browsing data except for Cached images and files.
- Click Clear data.
Firefox
Method 1
- Click the menu button to open the menu panel.
- Click
- Next to Time range to clear, choose Everything from the drop-down menu.
- Deselect every type of browsing data except for Cache in the items list.
- Click the button.
Method 2
- Click the menu button and select .
- Select the panel.
- In the Cookies and Site Data section, click .
- Deselect Cookies and Site Data.
- 1100px
- With Cached Web Content check marked, click the button.
- Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
Edge
- On your computer, Open the Edge browser.
Select Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services .
Under Clear browsing data > Clear browsing data now, select Choose what to clear.
Under Time range, choose All Time.
Deselect every type of browsing data except Cached images and files.
Select Clear now.
Safari
- On your computer, Open the Safari browser.
- Click on the Safari tab at the top left of your screen
- Choose Preferences from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Advanced tab of the menu that pops up.
- At the end of the tab, select the Show Develop menu in menu bar box and close the Preferences menu.
- Click the Develop tab from the Safari menu at the top of the page.
- Click Empty Caches from the dropdown menu.
- Repeat steps 2 - 5 to turn off the Developer tab
After you clear cache and cookies:
- Some settings on sites get deleted. For example, if you were signed in, you’ll need to sign in again. Some sites can seem slower because content, like images, needs to load again.

- The cache remembers parts of pages, like images, to help them open faster during your next visit.
