Information Security Incidents on the Rise
We’ve had an increase in number of phishing attacks on faculty and staff from fraudulent 3rd parties masking as Deans, Presidents, and other leadership. Keep an eye on emails, cell phone text messages, and other communication methods for content which seems out of place. For example, messages with urgency requesting that you purchase gift cards and send the information or inquiries into information itself about other individuals or systems should both raise red flags. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) provides guidance and information about identifying and preventing successful phishing attacks.
All about the UGA Libraries Undergraduate Research Award
Tuesday, Feb. 3, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Presenters:
Chandler Christoffel, Director of Academic Engagement, UGA Libraries
Beth Woods, Director of Research and Computational Data Management, UGA Libraries
Since 2007, the UGA Libraries has sponsored the Undergraduate Research Award (LURA), which provides cash prizes for excellence in research. This year’s award is co-sponsored by the Office of Research, and together we want to celebrate all the different kinds of research in which UGA students participate–and, more importantly, understand what they learned from the process. The award asks students to reflect on their research process using any medium of their choice, demonstrating creativity and clarity of expression. Award recipients will be recognized at the CURO Symposium in April. Join this session of Research Live for an information session about LURA and its evaluation criteria.
Zoom registration is required.
