AI Literacy for All offered by the Digital Education Council (DEC) Online Course Now Available for Faculty and Staff
The University of Georgia has launched AI Literacy for All offered by the Digital Education Council (DEC), a new online course designed to provide students, faculty, and staff with a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence. This course emphasizes the responsible use and implications of generative AI in both academic and professional contexts. It is intended to serve as a shared baseline resource to support a consistent and informed understanding of generative AI across the university community.
The course is now available to faculty and staff as of Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Access for students will be rolled out later this year, beginning Monday, August 10, 2026.
The training is delivered through a third-party platform provided by the Digital Education Council, a global network of institutions focused on advancing innovation in education. The course is structured as a four-hour introductory experience and includes interactive learning activities. Participants may complete the course at their own pace over multiple sessions.
How to access the course:
The course is available through the AI Hub under Resources and Tools or visit the link below:
To access the training, log in using your UGA email address (MyID@uga.edu) and password, following the same process used for UGAMail and Microsoft 365. You may be prompted to verify your login using UGA ArchPass (Duo).
Once logged in, you will be directed to the Digital Education Council platform, where the course and all related materials are hosted.
Additional information:
This training is highly encouraged but not required.
Upon completion, participants will have the option to download a certificate of completion and may add it to their list of micro-credentials on LinkedIn.
Additional training materials, guidance, and support resources are available on the AI Hub under Resources and Tools.
Faculty and staff who have questions about the course may contact the EITS AI Tools Team for assistance.

Upcoming Changes to Zoom at UGA (Starting July 1, 2026)
EITS is rolling out updates to how Zoom access is managed across the University of Georgia, and these changes may affect your account.
What’s Changing
Beginning July 1, 2026, Zoom licenses will no longer be assigned based on total employee headcount. Instead, UGA will move to a knowledge-based FTE model. (Undergraduate and Graduate students, student workers, retirees, and affiliates will be impacted by the changes in licensing.)
This means Zoom licenses will be assigned to employees whose roles require regular use of Zoom for:
Teaching
Research
Administrative work
Colleges and Administrative units will need to review their current Zoom users and remove accounts that do not meet this definition.
Platform Update: Zoom Essentials
All licensed users will move to the Zoom Essentials platform. This includes the core features most people rely on, such as:
Hosting meetings
Hosting larger sessions
Running webinars
For most licensed users, there should be little to no change in functionality.
If You Lose Zoom Access
If you are no longer assigned a Zoom license, there are a few important impacts to be aware of:
Your scheduled meetings will be deleted
Any meetings you created in Zoom will be removed once your license is revoked. If you still need them, recreate them in Microsoft Teams or transfer ownership to another licensed user before July 1.
Download your recordings
Be sure to save any Zoom recordings you want to keep ahead of the transition.
You can still attend meetings
Even without a license, you can continue to join Zoom meetings hosted by others.
What Academic and Administrative Will be Doing Now
To avoid disruptions, units will begin preparing:
Reviewing current Zoom account assignments
Identifying which roles qualify under the knowledge-based FTE model
Notifying impacted users early
Helping users transition meetings or download recordings
